1975
Jeffrey Bunnell was an exceptional music student during his time at Elkton High. As the outstanding freshman music student, he earned the prestigious John Philip Sousa Award for music excellence and was a standout musician, holding the position of 1st chair trumpet all 4 years in the All Cecil County Bands. In 1975, Jeffrey was selected for the All Maryland Orchestra, further showcasing his musical talent and dedication. He received a full music scholarship to Valley Forge Military College and sat 1st chair trumpet in the concert band and led the famed "Herald Trumpets of Valley Forge" during America's Bicentennial in 1976 performing at celebrations throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
The Jeffrey Bunnell Music Scholarship was created by the Elkton High School Class of 1975 in recognition of Jeff’s tireless efforts in organizing and chairing the 50th Class Reunion in May 2025. This scholarship serves as a lasting tribute to his leadership and his dedication to both his classmates and his love for music.
